About JBMO
The Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO) is an esteemed mathematics competition for students aged 15.5 years or younger. A new beginning
On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Research, we are highly honoured to welcome all the participants to the 30th Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad. This remarkable event brings together a large number of the best junior student mathematicians to prove their native gift and acquired knowledge. I am certain that these young people will contribute essentially to the creation of a brilliant future for our countries and I am confident that the friendships initiated during such competitions will ensure a future cooperation that will lead to peace and harmony in this part of Europe. We, as adults, need to teach our students that a good communication can provide lasting solutions to all conflicts, irrespective of their nature. Since Romania was the initiator of the international mathematics competition in 1959, besides the last mathematics international Olympiad held in Cluj, Romania in 2018, it is our great pleasure to host again this year the Junior Balkan Olympiad. Wear your country's colours with pride, enjoy the journey, and let your curiosity lead the way! Best of luck to all of you!

Buzău County Council supports excellence in education and contributes to transforming our county, this June, into the host of the 2026 Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad. The presence of the international delegations participating in this prestigious competition will turn Buzău, for several days, into a space dedicated to academic excellence, intellectual dialogue, and cooperation among young people from different countries. Hosting an event of such importance represents both a major responsibility and a firm commitment to education, performance, and the support of young individuals who constantly push the boundaries of knowledge through hard work, discipline, and passion for learning. Mathematics is a universal language, and the gathering of these outstanding students confirms once again that education and academic excellence create meaningful connections between communities and generations. We are fully prepared to provide all participants with high organizational standards, an environment in which performance is appreciated, and the hospitality for which Buzău is well known. Buzău County Council remains a constant supporter of education and of projects that promote excellence and the development of young generations. We wish all participants the very best of success!

President of the Buzău County Council

For the County School Inspectorate, hosting the Balkan Junior Mathematics Competition 2026, represents a moment of high recognition of our calling for excellence, offering us the chance to celebrate, alongside international elites, the power of young minds in shaping the future. It is a privilege for our entire community to host this royal of intelligence where, as James Joseph Sylvester said – ``Mathematics is the music of reason``, and our county becomes the stage on which this harmony of logic comes to life through the talent of all participants. Setting the stage for this new edition, we invite you, students and teachers alike, to discover in this competition more than a challenge of brilliant minds: a bridge between cultures, a confirmation of the values that bring us together, an opportunity to compose, together, an anthem of Balkan excellence. We hope that Buzău County will provide you with the ideal context for achieving performance, and that the atmosphere and the memories of these places will inspire you and remain forever in your hearts. Good luck to all the delegations! May the most brilliant minds be crowned with laurels in Buzău in 2026.

On behalf of the Romanian Mathematical Society, the founder of the IMO, it is my great honor to welcome you to the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad. This event brings together talented young students from across the Balkans and from other countries all over the world, united by a shared passion for mathematics, teamwork, and the joy of problem solving. The Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad is more than a competition: it is a community where students develop their mathematical thinking, strengthen their confidence, and build friendships that last beyond the contest. We believe that supporting young people in discovering the beauty and power of mathematics is one of the most important investments we can make in the future. As someone involved in math Olympiads for the last 60 years, as a student, teacher and leader, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the local organizers and authorities in Buzău, and also to the participating schools, mentors, and all volunteers whose dedication makes this program possible. My warmest congratulations to all participants—may you enjoy the challenge, learn from the experience, and take pride in every step of your journey.
